Route to Approval
To reduce timescales and costs NQA have aimed to make the process to MCS Product Approval relatively simple:
1. Complete application form and return to NQA with all relevant
information (test reports, installation instructions etc) for a free no obligation quotation/proposal.
2. Accept proposal for work from NQA.
3. Technical review of documentation takes place (test reports, manufacturers installation instructions etc).
4. Factory Production Control (FPC) visit takes place at all factories where product is produced to ensure that the producer/manufacturer complies with the following standards which can be found at the MCS Website:
- MCS 010 – Factory Production Control Requirements
- MCS 011 – Product Testing Requirements
- Specific Product Standard e.g. MCS 007 – Product certification Requirements – Heat Pumps
5. MCS Approval is achieved if all of above conforms to scheme standards.
After the Product is Certified
Once the certification for product has been satisfactorily completed, the product will be listed on the MCS website (www. microgenerationcertification.org) as approved.
Use of MCS Certification Mark and Logo, subject to certain conditions, the Producer will also be able to display the MCS Mark on all duly certified products and use the MCS Logo in the advertising and promotion of that product. For conditions relating to the use of the MCS Mark and Logo, see the separate leaflet called “Guide to using the MCS Product Certification Scheme Mark and Logo” below.
Surveillance Product certificates are maintained and held in force through annual surveillance visits and satisfactory completion of audit of product testing.
