ISO 50001:2018 Transition - A Reminder

28 September 2021
When ISO 50001:2018 was published in August 2018, as is common with all updated standards it was given a transition period of three years that would have ended on 21st August 2021 had it not been for the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to allow organisations more time to complete the work needed to bring their energy management systems in to line with the updated standard, and to give certification bodies additional time to schedule the transition assessments, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) extended the transition period for all recently revised ISO management system standards by six months.

The date that was actually set for the extended transition is 31st January 2022. This means that any organisation that has not undertaken a transition assessment by that date will, on 1st February 2022 have their ISO 50001:2011 certificate cancelled.

Many of our ISO 50001 clients have carried out the transition or are in the process of doing so by now. If you have not, please contact NQA at the earliest opportunity to ensure continuity of certification.
