World Accreditation Day 2018

08 June 2018
The 9th June 2018 marks World Accreditation Day, established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) together, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of accreditation.

Each World Accreditation Day focuses on a different theme representing significant global issues. The theme of World Accreditation Day 2018 is ‘Delivering a Safer World’ and shows a strong link into the recently published ISO 45001:2018 Health & Safety standard.

The expectation of safe workplaces, products, transport, food and actually, safety in all areas of our lives is a shared vision and aim for government, regulators and businesses alike. It is the sad truth however, shown by recent statistics, that that the expectation is not being matched by the reality and aligning the two is now an important objective for all involved.

At NQA we believe that standards, audits and accreditation/certification are beneficial tools to help create a safer world. The use of management systems within a company aim to reduce health & safety risks and are designed to improve an organization’s health & safety performance by identifying risks and putting objectives, policies, processes and controls in place to minimise them.

Applicable Standards

Some of the standards that go into helping ensure a safe world include:

• ISO 45001 - the ISO standard for occupational health & safety management systems

• ISO 9001 - the ISO standard for quality management systems

• ISO 14001 - the ISO standard for environmental management and performance

• ISO 50001 - the ISO standard for energy management

Each of the above standards is based on a continuous improvement cycle that is scalable to grow with your business. Accreditation provides organizations with universally recognised proof of their technical competence, as well as a framework for improving overall quality and consistency in their day-to-day operations.

GET INVOLVED

As in previous years, the day will be celebrated across the world with national events, seminars and press and media coverage, to communicate the value of accreditation to Government, Regulators and the leaders of the business community.
