12 October 2016
Revision to the IATF 16949 automotive standard is finally here!
Released on the 1st October 2016, the new standard created by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), coupled with applicable customer-specific requirements, defines the quality management system requirements to supply into the automotive industry.

Requirements for certification to IATF 16949:2016 will be defined in a new revision of the “Rules for achieving and maintaining IATF recognition”, which has been scheduled for release in November 2016.

When implementing the new automotive standard requirements, IATF 16949:2016 cannot been used as a stand-alone quality management standard, but is implemented as a supplement to, and must be used in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015.  The clauses structure in the new IATF 16949:2016 standard follows the clause structure of ISO 9001:2015.

Guidance for the transition process from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949:2016 will be posted on this website shortly, so please keep checking this space!
