TS 16949 IATF New Standard Survey

10 June 2015
In December 2014, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) decided to revise ISO/TS 16949:2009 to incorporate lessons learned and align ISO/TS16949 to the high level structure of ISO 9001:2015.

Planning and analysis for this task is underway, using the draft document ISO DIS 9001:2014 and the ISO/TS16949 Automotive Specific Requirements as the foundation.

The IATF has approved a questionnaire for release to all interested stakeholders within and outside the IATF scheme.

As an IATF recognised Certification Body, the IATF have kindly given permission for NQA to share this with any stakeholders to the process and through this correspondence, invite interested parties to participate in the survey.

There are a wide range of stakeholders of ISO/TS16949 within the automotive industry, and a wide range of views on how to improve the QMS standard and the audit/certification process.

The IATF’s approach is to utilize this standardized survey to collect specific input on opportunities for improvement in the current ISO/TS16949 requirements, and the associated certification/audit process, Rules for Achieving and Maintaining IATF Recognition, 4th Edition.

Please complete Sections I & II of the survey and provide your determination of whether you believe the topics within Section II are important within the new standard.

In Section III, it is not necessary to provide input on every clause. You are encouraged to provide input on any clause where you may identify opportunities for improvement. For each response in Section III, it is necessary to complete all three columns (restatement of the current requirement, identified issue with the current requirement, and proposal for new wording for the requirement).

This survey is a very important opportunity to gather suggestions for improvement and to promote participation in this process from all interested parties.

The responses to this survey may identify key opportunities for improvement in the ISO/TS16949 requirements and in the ISO/TS audit process to the IATF.

This process step is the first in a number of steps that the IATF will invite interested parties to be involved in as part of the development and approval of the new standard.

As stakeholders to this process, there is a need to take this unique opportunity to provide input, as it is vital that the IATF obtain detailed feedback.

Please provide your thoughts utilising this document, then send it back to NQA by 3rd July 2015, where the responses will be collated before submitting them to the IATF.

Thank you all for participating in this project.
