Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act 2024

A framework is introduced that allows Scottish Ministers to support agriculture, rural communities and the rural economy. This includes introducing measures for:
•    on-farm nature restoration;
•    improving plant and soil health;
•    protecting land and water;
•    tackling greenhouse gas emissions;
•    adapting to the impacts of climate change;
•    protecting biodiversity; and
•    compensating those who incur costs due to such environmental improvement measures.

These measures are not themselves introduced by this Act, it simply provides the framework for these to be implemented through subsequent legislation.
