These Regulations amend the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme Regulations 2011 and Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme Regulations 2014 to introduce a number of amendments applying to both schemes or that apply to each scheme separately.

The amendments made are in relation to:

  • Change from Retail Price Index (RPI) to Consumer Price Index (CPI)
  • Degression Triggers
  • Changes to the land criteria requirements
  • Clarification of Microgeneration Certification Scheme equivalence
  • Tariff rounding to two decimal places
  • Solar thermal collectors new at first commissioning
  • Ability for Ofgem to request a new EPC and amend RHI payments
  • Green Deal Assessment
  • Exemption for eligible new build properties from the 183 days occupancy requirement
  • Biogas deemed to meet sustainability criteria
