Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 on Food Additives
Regulation: Regulation (EU) 2018/1497 amending Annex II to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 as regards food category 17 and the use of food additives in food supplements.

In Annex II entries for food category 17, food supplements, are amended, as the previous subcategory, 17.3 ‘food supplements supplied in a syrup type or chewable form’, has been removed. This is due to the sub category leading to misinterpretation causing difficulties with the implementation of Regulation (EC) No. 1333/2008 on food additives.
The following amendments have been made as a result:

The entry for Category 17 in Part D is replaced to reflect the revised subcategories; Part D lists the categories of food that food additives can be added to.

The entry for Category 17 in Part E is also replaced with entries that were previously in 17.3, transferred into either 17.1 or 17.2. Part E lists the authorised additives for each subcategories and the conditions of use.
