The Environmental Protection (Single-use Plastic Products) (Wales) Act 2023

Amends/Commences: New Legislation

Comes into force: Sections 3,4,17,21,22, and 23 come into force on 7th June 2023, the remainder is expected from October 2023. 

Jurisdiction: Wales

A ban on single-use plastics is introduced but not yet fully in force. The list of single-use plastics includes (but not limited to):

• cups;

• cutlery;

• drink-stirrers;

• lids for cups or takeaway food containers;

• straws; and

• plates.

When the ban comes into force it will be an offence for a person to supply or offer to supply a prohibited single-use plastic product to a consumer in Wales.
