Agricultural Environmental Impact Assessment (Wales)

The regulations revoke and replace the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (Wales) Regulations SI 2007/2933 and implement Directive 2011/92/EU, on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment, in relation to projects for the restructuring of rural land holdings and projects for the use of uncultivated land or semi-natural areas for intensive agricultural purposes.

When does this come into force: 16 May 2017
 
They set out the procedure to be followed when an environmental impact assessment is required in relation to a proposed agricultural project.
 
The regulations will:

  • strengthen the EIA screening process

  • streamline existing procedures

  • enhance the protection of farmland habitat sites.
