Health & Safety South Event 2019

18 April 2019
From Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th April NQA attended the Health & Safety Event at the NEC, Birmingham.

The show, dedicated to safety professionals saw over 6000 visitors and 175+ exhibitors all working towards the same goal, a safer work environment.

The popular annual event was designed to attract business professionals responsible for running a safe and efficient workplace, anywhere in the UK, and is seen consistently as the perfect education and networking opportunity to get all Health & Safety questions answered under one roof!

The NQA stand included Terry Fisher, Principal Assessor for ISO 45001, along with other NQA experts, discussing the most up-to-date-date legislation, updates to the ISO standard and useful information regarding the migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001.

The team forged many new relationships and distributed plenty of free toolkits to aid organizations starting their certification journeys and offered training solutions to those looking at migrating to the new standard.

SHE Awards

In conjunction with this the team also attended the prestigious Safety & Health Excellence Awards on Wednesday 11th April the Vox in Birmingham.

The event saw over 400 attendees celebrating excellence in safety, health, security and fire where they enjoyed a three course meal, live music and entertainment and a fantastic comedy set from well-known comedian Sean Lock who ultimately hosted the Awards.

NQA was proud to be sponsoring the HSM Rising Star award; this category was designed to recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution to the introduction, implementation or enhancement of health, safety or well-being standards within either their own or a client organization.

NQA’s Laura Fletcher was delighted to present the award to Teresa Swinton at Paradigm Human Performance Ltd after being nominated by her colleagues for her “unrelenting efforts to keep people safe at work. She has always been a driver of change and a force for good, no matter where she has worked, constantly acting as a mentor and coach for aspiring safety professionals. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is in high demand by our clients, who appreciate the unique perspective and straight talk she brings to her work.”

An experienced panel of key industry figures whittled down huge numbers of entries across fourteen categories.

NQA would like to wish all winners and entrants on the night huge congratulations for their hard work and we look forward to taking part again in the future.
