About Planteria
Planteria’s goal is simple - making workplaces greener, brighter, and more inspiring. Their biophilic designs not only enhance the physical environment but also encourage more sustainable practices in the workplace.
In addition to plant installations, they run a premium corporate floristry service and execute high-impact projects such as living walls, rooftop gardens, and hydroponic micro-farm towers
Their journey with ISO 9001 and ISO 14064-1
With increasing attention on greenhouse gases (GHG) in both the media and government discussions, they observed a growing interest from clients and prospective partners in understanding our GHG emissions data. Planteria then made the strategic decision to attain a verification through NQA.
They had previously held ISO 9001 with a non-UKAS body, but client expectations had shifted. The move to NQA, a UKAS-accredited provider, was essential for staying competitive and aligned with best practices.
Why NQA?
Planteria’s Operations Director had previously worked with NQA and recommended the certification body based on its high standards and rigorous audit process. Based on this positive experience, they strongly advocated for transitioning to NQA.
Then having already partnered with NQA for ISO 9001, the decision to consolidate all certifications and verifications under one provider was a straightforward decision.
Achieving ISO 14064-1
Planteria partnered with consultants Carbonology to prepare for ISO 14064-1, which verifies greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. Working together, they compiled and validated emissions data for 2023, developed a detailed Carbon Reduction Plan, and prepared for formal verification with NQA assessor Sean Jackson.
The two-day audit in January 2025 was conducted remotely and included a virtual walkthrough of the Henham site, followed by targeted sessions where team members presented data and evidence. Carbonology handled technical queries, and Planteria staff provided context on operational data.
How ISO 14064-1 has impacted their business
Verification to ISO 14064-1 is already helping Planteria improve in four key areas:- Provides a clear competitive advantage in tenders and supply chains where environmental accountability is now a key requirement
- Internal efficiency by identifying energy and resource saving opportunities, leading to potential cost reductions
- Risk reduction by preparing for future environmental regulations and carbon costs
- Helps future-proof operations, strengthens brand reputation, and demonstrates leadership in environmental responsibility
Future steps
Looking ahead, Planteria is preparing to transition their ISO 14001 certification to NQA and plans to integrate their quality and environmental systems into one seamless management framework. Work has also begun on quantifying 2024 GHG data for this year’s ISO 14064-1 verification.
