  • The next United Nations Climate Change Conference, often referred to as COP meetings, will take place in November 2025

  • This will be the 30th annual COP meeting and comes at a critical time in the global action being taken to combat climate change

  • Scientists have evidenced that 2024 was the world's hottest year on record. For the first time, average global temperatures for that year were around 1.6degC higher than pre-industrial times. This marks the first year that the global objective of capping the warming limit to 1.5degC, agreed as a part of the Paris Agreement in 2015, was exceeded

  • World leaders from 198 countries are expected to attend COP 30, to review progress in the national and international actions being taken to adhere to the 1.5degC limit
