The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) is expected to be published between October and December 2025, with the official release of ISO 14001:2026 anticipated in January 2026. Organisations will have a timeframe of 12 to 18 months to transition prior to mid-2027.
While the changes are moderate, they focus on climate action, supply chain sustainability, a stronger lifecycle perspective, and improved risk-based thinking. Annex A has also been expanded to support implementation.
