The 2007 UK Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities (SIC) system is used for classifying business activities in the UK.

When does this change take place: 1st April 2016
The relevant 2007 SIC Code must be included on the consignment note for hazardous waste.
This means that in England and Wales the same SIC code will be used for both hazardous and non-hazardous waste transfers. The NACE coding system which was introduced across Europe will continue to be allowed.
