The sale of electric vehicles (EV) charge points is prohibited unless they meet specific requirements, including smart functionality. The requirement applies to charge points intended for use by vans, cars, and smart cables. There is also a duty to ensure that all EV charge points are manufactured with safety features that prevent any overriding of default functions that may harm the user.
Further duties for manufacturers include providing buyers with documents of assurance, including a statement of compliance, and keeping a register of all charge points sold within the past 10 years.
