Planning and Development (Large Scale Residential Developments) Act 2021

The definitions of ‘large-scale residential development (LRD)’ and ‘LRD floor space’ in the Planning and Development Act 2000 are amended. A person who intends to apply for planning permission for an LRD must hold an LRD opinion or written confirmation in accordance to specified conditions. The duties of a planning authority in relation to LRD appeals are also set out.
Additionally, this Act repeals Section 4(1)(Strategic housing developments and planning applications) of the Planning and Development (Housing) and Residential Tenancies Act 2016.
