The Road Vehicle Carbon Dioxide Emission Performance Standards (Cars and Vans) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2021

Amends/Commences: 

• UK Retained: Regulation (EU) 2019/631 setting CO2 emission performance standards for new passenger cars and for new light commercial vehicles

Comes into force: 01/09/2021

After the transition period of the UK leaving the EU, an unintended loophole was created that resulted in the CO2 emissions of new passenger cars and vans in Northern Ireland being unregulated. Changes are made to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 setting CO2 emission performance standards for new passenger cars and for new light commercial vehicles to create a UK-wide regime for the regulation of CO2 emissions from 1^st September 2021.
