Planning and Development Act 2000 (Exempted Development) (No.3) Regulations

Amends/Commences: 

• Planning and Development Regulations 2001

Comes into force: 7th October 2022

Jurisdiction: Republic of Ireland

These exempt solar panels and/ or solar thermal collector installations that are classed in Class 60 and Class 61 from the requirement to obtain planning permission. These exemptions are given under certain conditions.

Class 61 includes:

• an educational building;

• a health centre or hospital;

• a recreational or sports facility;

• a place of worship;

• a community facility or centre;

• a library; and

• sites that supply gas, electricity, telecommunication services, water supplies or wastewater services.
