The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation 2018 (SI 2018/1214)

Coming into force on 1st January 2019 across the UK these Regulations apply to all EEE covered by the scope of the Regulations and placed on the market in the UK.
 
This amendment makes the changes required to implement the WEEE Directive which introduces ‘open scope’.
 
WEEE categories
Open scope means that an electrical product is within scope of the Directive unless specifically exempt.
 
AATF Reports
This amendment introduces the requirement for reports submitted by Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs) to be submitted in the format published by the appropriate authority or online.
 
Charging Schemes
This amendment clarifies that Producer Compliance Scheme members pay charges.
 
Other amendments
References to the Northern Ireland Department of the Environment are replaced with reference to the Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
 
This amending Regulation applies to the whole of the UK, apart from Regulations 17 to 19 which do not apply in Northern Ireland.
