Amends/Commences: New Legislation
Comes into force: 26th October 2023
Jurisdiction: United Kingdom
Organisations who transport hydrogen gas or carbon dioxide through a pipeline, or dispose of carbon dioxide via geological storage, are required to have a licence from the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority.
The Act also gives the Secretary of State the power to establish an:

Energy support scheme;

Energy savings opportunity scheme (ESOS);

Energy smart scheme; and
-
Low-carbon heat scheme.
Requirements for energy performance of buildings and heat network zones suitable for the transfer of thermal energy for heating and cooling may also be established through the Act.
