The Car, Van and Heavy Duty Vehicle Carbon Dioxide Emissions Performance Standards (Civil Penalties and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2023

Amends/Commences: Assimilated Regulation 2019/631 setting CO2 emission performance standards for new passenger cars and for new light commercial vehicles and Assimilated Regulation 2019/1242 setting CO2 emission performance standards for new heavy-duty vehicles

Comes into force: 1st January 2024

The Secretary of State can impose premiums on vehicle manufacturers for excess CO2 emissions. Administrative fines can also be imposed on manufacturers where they do not report correct data on engine types for vehicles

A minor change is made to the calculation when monitoring CO2 emissions in the case of incomplete base vehicles. The body mass value has been increased from 1375 to 1387kg.
