New guidance is available to help employers protect workers from exposure to electromagnetic field radiation. It can help SMEs with their initial assessment of these risks.

This guide has been prepared to help employers, workers and regulatory authorities understand their duties under Directive 2013/35/EU on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (electromagnetic fields) and repealing Directive 2004/40/EC.

Directive 2013/35/EU establishes the minimum safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to risks arising from electromagnetic fields.

This guide will assist small and medium sized enterprises carry out an initial assessment of the risks from electromagnetic fields in the workplace. Based on the outcome of this assessment, it will help decide whether you need to take any further action as a result of the Directive 2013/35/EU.
 
It includes information on health effects and safety risks from electromagnetic fields and sources of electromagnetic fields.
