The Animal Feed (Basic Safety Standards) Regulations 2019 (SI 2019/683)

These Regulations prohibit the intentional addition of radioactive substances to animal feed. They also prohibit the import or export of animal feed if radioactive substances have been intentionally added.
No person is allowed to intentionally add a radioactive substance in the production of animal feed.
No person is allowed to import or export any animal feed if a radioactive substance was intentionally added during its production.
Contravention could lead to a fine and/or imprisonment.
They also amend The Animal Feed (Hygiene, Sampling etc. and Enforcement) (England) Regulations 2015 and The Official Feed and Food Control (England) Regulation 2009. These are minor administrative changes to schedules to include references to The Animal Feed (Basic Standards) (England) Regulations 2019.
