Home Resources Legal Updates March 2021

The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2021

01 March 2021

Comes into force: 1st February 2021
Jurisdiction: Scotland

Temporary arrangements are introduced to ease the conformity requirements for PPE products that are manufactured and supplied for use during the Coronavirus pandemic.

PPE that is currently undergoing conformity assessment procedures but are yet to receive conformity marking (e.g. UK or CE mark) can be made available for purchase in the UK.

PPE that has not yet started its conformity assessment (but would usually require one) can be provided to healthcare workers or specified frontline health and care sector workers. Where PPE is made available to healthcare workers and frontline workers, the PPE must be assessed by the HSE and found to be compliant with the safety requirements.
