The Single Use Carrier Bags Charge (Amendment and Revocation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

Multiple changes are made to the carrier bag levy, including the definition of ‘net proceeds of the charge,’ to reflect the new minimum price sellers must charge for new single-use carrier bags. Sellers must now charge customers a minimum of 25 pence for each carrier bag. The 25 pence levy applies to all new carrier bags with a retail price of £5 or less. Additionally, sellers must keep records reflecting the 25 pence charge levy. These Regulations also update the list of single carrier bags that are exempt from the levy.
