The Guarantees of Origin of Electricity Produced from Renewable Energy Sources and High-efficiency Cogeneration Regulations 2022

Amends/Commences: The Electricity (Guarantees of Origin of Electricity Produced from Renewable Energy Sources) Regulations 2003

Comes into force: 1st January 2023 with part of the amendment coming into force on the 1st April 2023

Jurisdiction: Great Britain

The duties on UK authorities to recognise certificates of origin (GOOs and GHPGOs) that were issued in the European Union are being removed.

The authorities are under no obligation to recognise CHPGOs issued by EU member states from the 1st of January 2023 and are under no obligation to recognise GOOs issued in EU member states from the 1st April 2023.
