There will be a voluntary phase for manufacturers to familiarise themselves with the new GB type-approval scheme, which ends on 1st February 2024. It will then be compulsory to apply for the GB type-approval scheme by 1st February 2024, for new road vehicles.

Manufacturers of trailers and parts for road vehicles must obtain a type-approval certificate under the Provisional GB scheme by 1st January 2023. They must then transition to the GB type-approval scheme by 1st February 2027.
