Amends/Commences: Directive 2008/98/EC on waste
Comes into force: 30th September 2025

EU Member States must introduce legislation by 17th June 2027 to prevent food waste generation and implement an extended producer responsibility scheme for textiles. The definition for gaseous effluents excluded from Directive 2008/98/EC is also updated, specifying that this relates to gaseous effluents emitted and stored in accordance with Directive 2009/31/EC on the geological storage of carbon dioxide.
