Armed Forces Day falls on Saturday 27th June this year. It’s a chance for us all to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.

From currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved.

#SaluteOurForces is a simple way for anyone to pay tribute to the British Armed Forces community for their hard work, dedication and efforts to and keep us safe in the UK and across the globe.

Saluting like Service Personnel

If you want to make sure you get it right, the Armed Forces Day  website has some great short videos to show you how the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force salute – so you can take your pick! Take a look at these videos here.

Reserves Day 2020

Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.
The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of the Armed Forces personnel and as such are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas, particularly providing capability in specialist areas such as medical and cyber.

However, the contribution they make to our Armed Forces often goes unrecognised. As such an annual Reserves Day was created to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution Reservists make to our Armed Forces.

In 2020, Reserves Day is being celebrated on Wednesday 24th June.

Celebrating Reserves Day

Reservists are everywhere, but you might not know it. So on Reserves Day, Reservists wear their uniform in their civilian life – keep an eye out for them this year.

You can also show support reservists on Twitter by tweeting for their Thunderclap on Wednesday 24th June at 1100hrs by tweeting the message below:
