23 November 2018
NQA proudly sponsored the CQI awards, we chose to be involved in these awards because our motto of “Never Stop Improving” fits seamlessly with the ethos of the awards and acknowledges the importance of global quality.

The International Quality Awards recognises excellence within the quality profession. This year’s outstanding winners work across a range of industries and contribute to enhancing the reputations of organisations across the globe.

Estelle Clark, Executive Director of Policy at the CQI and Chair of the Judges, said: “I was blown away by the calibre of the entries we received this year. The breadth of industries and countries represented by the candidates and finalists are a testament to the value the quality profession brings to the wider world. This year’s winners wowed the judges because of their perseverance and the impressive results they achieved under challenging circumstances.”

NQA proudly sponsored the Emerging Talent Award, the winner of this award was:

Khar Voen (Carmen) Chin, PCQI, Alstom, Hong Kong S.A.R., China

This award recognises the quality professional who has contributed most to their organisation within the first eight years of their quality career. Carmen is a Project Quality Engineer at Alstom. She won for her role in improving supplier training, warehouse audits and installation of steel bracketry that carries signalling equipment under train carriages. Her work contributes to ensuring the safety of millions of passengers who use Hong Kong’s railway network.

We would like to congratulate all of the finalists who were at the awards. It was fantastic to see so much talent in our industry, each doing their bit to improve standards around the world. The work that the CQI and IRCA do to support the industry is outstanding and it is a privilege to work so closely with them.

The awards really highlight that people are committed to continually strive to be the best at what they do, something very much in line with our company philosophy.

The emerging talent award was particularly close to our hearts as we strongly believe in the importance of recognising individuals that have contributed to their organisation, particularly in the early stages of their career. This award resonates with our values of nurturing talent and achieving business success by investing in our people and striving to be great in all that we do.

Laura Fletcher, NQA's Commercial Director said: "As a judge for the award, it was a great opportunity to get an insight into the future of the industry and the real talent that will become the leaders of our industry. The finalists were assessed across the core principles of context, governance, assurance, improvement and leadership, as well as having to present to us on how each of these topics plays a part in their current role. We had a variety of entries from a wide range of backgrounds and countries, which I am sure you will agree is fantastic to see. The three finalists each demonstrated high levels of commitment and talent towards quality and the core principles that sit behind it."
