ISO/TS 16949 Certificate Expiry Date

20 October 2015
The transition period for the revision of ISO 9001 has been set to three years from the publication date of ISO 9001:2015.

As ISO 9001:2008 forms the basis for the ISO/TS 16949:2009 standard, the expiry date of certificates to ISO/TS 16949:2009 have to correspond to the end of the three year transition period for ISO 9001:2008 certificates, which will be 14th September 2018 (based on the official release date of ISO 9001:2015).

The IATF Database was modified accordingly on Sunday, 4th October 2015 to reflect this maximum expiration date for ISO/TS 16949:2009 certificates and this will automatically set the expiration date to the 14th September 2018.

The certificates that NQA generate from our own systems have to reflect this new expiration date also and to ensure conformity between the two standards any existing certificates with a later expiry date must be revised accordingly.

A Rules 4th Edition Sanctioned Interpretation number 11, has officially been released on the IATF Global Oversight website to inform all interested parties about this and can be found HERE.

Quite simply, don't panic!!!

All Certification Bodies and Clients alike have to adhere to this certificate expiry timing and the IATF will be releasing a transition strategy, from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to a new version of the ISO/TS 16949 standard, at a later date which will ensure that your certification to the scheme will continue without risk of jeopardising your registration.
