mydentist Environmental Achievements Recognised with ISO 14001 Certification
It is the first UK dental group to receive ISO 14001 certification through NQA, the third party UKAS accredited global certification body.
ISO 14001 provides a framework for the development of an Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring compliance with legislation and providing a systematic approach to continuous improvement of environmental performance. It was revised in 2015, bringing an increased focus on sustainable development and helping businesses to effectively manage the environmental challenges of the future.
mydentist’s internal ‘Green Forum’, drawn from representatives from across the business, worked towards achieving ISO 14001 certification for more than a year. To date, their successes include a reduction in annual business mileage of 200,000 miles – equivalent to eight times round the earth - and the roll-out of energy-saving LED lights at its support centre, training academy and larger practices. The company has very specific targets to continually reduce its carbon footprint over the next five years including improved management of waste and utilities.
