This course aims to provide learners with an understanding of the core requirements set out in PAS 2060 – calculating a carbon footprint, forming a carbon management plan, working with carbon offsets and establishing the supporting documentation. The course will also guide delegates through the verification process and help them to better prepare for future verifications.

Course aims

This course aims to provide learners who have an basic knowledge of, or experience in carbon energy management to understand the verification approach and requirements of PAS 2060.

This course is designed to guide delegates through the key stages of PAS 2060, and provide relevant information on the subject area in order to have an understanding on how to achieve carbon neutrality.

What will I learn?

  • Explain the purpose of a carbon neutrality verification, of energy management standards, and the business benefits of improved performance of their carbon management.

  • Outline the structure and content of PAS 2060.

  • Outline the processes involved in calculating, reducing, offsetting, and verifying carbon emissions to support carbon neutrality claims.

  • Explain the specific carbon neutrality related requirements of PAS 2060.

  • Explain the terms and definitions defined and used in PAS 2060.

  • Explain the scope, boundaries and use of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3.

  • Outline different methodology options related to PAS 2060.

  • Explain the purpose of a GHG Inventory, Carbon Management Plan, and QES, and the requirements for its content, implementation, and review.

  • Practice using relevant tools and working documents such as a carbon calculator.

Is this course right for me?

This course is an introductory guide to aid with the implementation of PAS 2060. A delegate would benefit from having a basic understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, and energy management.

A basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be useful when attending this course.

What else do I need to know?

  • Dress code - Smart casual - your cameras will be switched on and delegates and tutors will be able to interact with each other

  • Breaks - There will regular time slots allocated during your course for refreshment/restroom breaks.

  • Proof of attendance - You will be sent a certificate of attendance following your training.

  • What to have with you - We recommend that you have a copy of the relevant standard with you on the day to reference. You will receive a digital copy of all necessary materials before the course starts so please ensure you have access to these on the day and contact us if you have not received them.
