Scientists have evidenced that 2024 was the world's hottest year on record. For the first time, average global temperatures for that year were around 1.6degC higher than pre-industrial times. This marks the first year that the global objective of capping the warming limit to 1.5degC, agreed as a part of the Paris Agreement in 2015, was exceeded
