60 Seconds with Donna Balletta
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?
I sit at the NQA-USA office in Acton, Massachusetts (Go Pats!) and work in the Business Development Department as a Senior Business Development Associate. My primary responsibility is to work with our existing clients who wish to expand their scope of registration.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT AT WORK?
I was recently selected as a team member for a project tasked with improving NQA’s global website. This opportunity resulted in a trip to the UK where I met my co-workers from across the pond. It was a wonderful opportunity. I was able to put faces to the names. We not only worked on the website project but shared information about policies, procedures and practices. It was an amazing experience both professionally and personally.
FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT WORKING FOR NQA?
This is an easy question to answer. I feel fortunate to work with an amazing group of people. Our co-workers and auditors make the most difficult day enjoyable. We truly like each other’s company and support each other’s efforts. You would think that registration is black and white but there are many grey areas. It’s like working on a word problem or an integrate puzzle! There are days when three or four of us are squeezed into an office debating and researching material until we feel comfortable with a decision. I love these moments of collaboration. It offers the best environment to learn and grow.
Along with our dynamic team members we also have a loyal client base. We collectively strive to develop strong relationships with our clients. It’s always a pleasure to work with a client on questions regarding their current registration or discussing an expansion. Each situation presents a new opportunity for gaining knowledge and growth relative to the industry.
I should also mention that we have a freezer stocked with ice cream which happens to be my favorite food group. Wonderful teammates, loyal clients, amazing auditors…..What’s not to like!
TOP TIP FOR PEOPLE LOOKING AT CERTIFICATION?
If you decide to work with a consultant ensure that you’ve checked references and are using a reliable source. NQA will only refer a consultant that our clients have worked with and have reported positive results. The same for choosing an accreditation body. Do your research and make sure that you choose an accredited body that is sanctioned by ANAB or UKAS.
HOW MIGHT YOU BE ABLE TO HELP OUR READERS?
NQA offers not only the most recognizable Quality Management standard, ISO 9001, but a host of additional standards that may be applicable to your business. You may want to explore a new standard, transfer a site that’s recently been acquired or new sites to your current registration. I will work with you regarding the certificate structure, creating a timeline and present a quote for budgetary purposes. Feel free to call or email any inquires.
