The Airports (Noise-related Operating Restrictions) (England and Wales) Regulations 2018

These Regulations come into force on 23rd July 2018 and apply to airports in England or Wales with more than 50,000 civil aircraft movements per year.
They designate competent authorities for the purposes of Regulation (EU) No 598/2014. The Regulation establishes the rules and procedures on the introduction of noise-related operating restrictions at airports within a ‘Balanced Approach’ to noise management, a practice promoted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The competent authority will either be the local planning authority, the Secretary of State or Welsh Ministers and will depend on the planning decision to be taken.
