Before 31st December 2025, producers who import packaged products or put product into packaging (i.e. packers or fillers) must take steps to ensure that at least 65% by weight of all packaging waste is recycled.
From 1st January 2026, any producer who imports packaged products or puts products into packaging must take steps to ensure that at least 70% by weight of all packaging waste is recycled.
By 31st December 2024, extended producer responsibility schemes will be established for all types of packaging. Measures to promote high quality recycling of packaging waste and to meet the necessary quality standards for the relevant recycling sectors will also be introduced.
