(EU) 2020/887 amending (EU) 2019/66 post-import checks of plants for planting

05 October 2020
Amends: Regulation (EU) 2016/2031 on protective measures against pests of plants
Comes into force: 29th June 2020
Jurisdiction: EU

This regulation introduces the requirement for further checks on plants imported into the EU. Since the presence or symptoms of plant pests may not be recognised at the time of checking at Border Control Posts or control points, additional physical checks are to be carried out on imported dormant plants for planting (other than seeds) during their first growing season.

These checks are to be carried out by the competent authorities at the premises of those using the plants (the operator).
