NQA Achieves ISO 20000-1:2018 UKAS Accreditation

NQA have successfully completed our transition from ISO 20000-1:2011 to ISO 20000-1:2018 and on the 30th September 2019 achieved UKAS accreditation for the new IT Service Management standard.

NQA can now issue UKAS accredited ISO 20000-1 certificates to the new standard; globally.

Providing our clients with a smooth transition is a top priority for NQA. We want all clients wishing to begin their transition to the new standard (plus those who have begun already) to be assured that NQA aim to support our clients throughout every step of their journey.

What do you need to know?

  • If you have certification to ISO 20000-1:2011 you will need to transition to ISO 200001-1:2018 to maintain the validity of your certification.

  • There will be a three year transition period – From 30th September 2018 to 29th September 2021.

  • Audits can currently be conducted against ISO 20000-1:2011 until 30th March 2020. NQA will therefore continue to accept applications for certification and issue new certificates based on the 2011 standard until this deadline. For any certificates that are issued/reissued, the deadline for validity will be the 29th September 2021.

  • All initial and recertification audits conducted on or after 31st March 2020, shall be carried out in accordance with ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018.

  • All audit activities (including surveillance activities) conducted on or after 29th September 2020 will be carried out in accordance with ISO 20000-1:2018.

  • The validity period of certificates issued in accordance with the old standard.

  • According to UKAS's transition requirements, the effective deadline for all certificates issued in accordance with the ISO 20000-1:2011 is 29th September 2021. Any ISO 20000-1:2011 certificate issued after the 30th September 2018 shall therefore have a deadline of 29th September 2021.
